The BlackTwitter Project centers on investigating real-time answers to the information-gathering inquires including, but not limited to: who makes up Black Twitter, who are the core and influential members of Black twitter, which topics, issues and/or movements are trending, when are these topics, issues and/or movements discussed in specific timeframes. This project features the collection and evaluation of blacktags, topics, and prominent figures in the Black community.

 

The team is learning the interworkings of the twitter infrastructure, exposing team members to data analytics technologies and building a web-based application focused on Black Twitter content. Software tools used include: Juptyer Notebook, Tweepy, pandas and plot.ly.
